My name is Lahiru, I am the founder and maker of OH. balance boards.

I'm a passionate surfer and surf instructor living and working in the South of the tropical island of Sri Lanka.

Surfing has changed my life and gave me opportunities that I otherwise wouldn't have had. It opened new doors for me and gave me the chance to meet like-minded and inspiring people from all over the world.

Apart from that it helps me to focus, clear my mind and find balance - not only in the water but more importantly in life.

As I know from many of my landlocked friends, it can be hard to maintain that balance and the muscle memory gained from and needed for surfing.

There's a few things that can help with that: practicing yoga and skateboarding for instance.

Or you can get yourself a balance board and bring a little bit of wave-riding feeling into your home!

Before I became a surf instructor, I was trained in traditional carpentry and wood carving by my uncle when I was younger and during the covid-19 crisis I went back to support my uncle with some projects.

Being back in the wood workshop somehow ignited my creativity and passion for working with that beautiful natural material.

I started making some balance boards as gifts for friends and gained some unexpected attention by friends of their friends.

Long story short, a lot of people showed interest in my work and I started getting more and more requests for custom made balance boards from other friends and surfers around the coast.

That's how OH. balance boards was born.

Today, with the support of two of my friends, I keep developing this small business further. Stay tuned!
